NAS is much much better. no way can jay z write and spit like the way NAS does it. but if yall dont know jay z's music got big only because the way he influence the entire hip hop/rap industry, whether it was through business, money making,etc. (not hating) Yet, unlike NAS, who influence THE hip hop/rap itself with the kind of music that reaches out to all music heads, even the rich and the poor! stories in his lyrics that is tangible only to the mind, heart,ect. all around the world.
