what about if you're blind? can you still be visual? I believe a blind person still could be visual. vision is in the mind. you have to use your imagination

interesting! I just can't figure out how to label those smart blind people. blind people who go to university, pretty much they depend on reading brail. what are blind people? a,v or k? I think blind people depend on the mind mostly.

Hello LearnerMind Kids, like anyone, are a mix of all three. They, like everyone, can be dominant in one area. In my book, I outline ways to magnify and enhance areas that need bolstering. This is a huge area, so I can't go into it in this reply. As far as blind people are concerned, what they lack in visual, they make up with auditory and kinesthetic abilities. Once trained, their kinesthetic skills will replace the functions of their eyes to send information to their brain for processing.

wow, im majorly kinisthetic, but i observe everything also, so i guess im a little bit of visual. but ya, thats why i cant stand school rightnow, i learn sooo much when i am at home by experience, but when im at school, i have to teach myself through my mistakes, it kinda stinks because im always barely passing

Thanks for the comment on my book. I don't see that Dan and I disagree all that much. My focus is more on accommodating kinesthetic learners. They are the disenfranchised ones. I think it is asking too much for a teacher to adapt lesson delivery for each individual student. Just incorporating some movement (a simple thing to do) will embrace those kinesthetic learners who are the ones usually ignored by typical visual & auditory teaching practices.
Yes - they don't ... ( 3 weeks ago by apwoodee)
Yes - they don't exist; this is laughable nonsense. The reliability isn't there. People are "visual" one week and "auditory" the next. We are "visual" when the visual context calls for it. It's much more about context. See, for example, Dembo and Howard (2007) on Learning styles as a "major myth" in education.
We agree with you ... ( 3 weeks ago by WalshSeminars)
We agree with you about context. People act and react differently depending on environment, circumstance, and their correspondents way of communicating. While many people are very adaptive, some are not. Dr. Walsh focuses more on how the latter will never achieve productive rapport because they unwittingly stick to their entrenched communication style. There will always be two sides to this story.

"My top three learning styles are Kinesthetic, visual and auditory. I usually remember English plays if I act them out. Im really good with remembering things if I touch, feel, play around with things. Yet again, working with my body would be perfect for a trades job. When I study for an exam, I write all the main points I have learned in the semester. This would make me a visual learner then Im trying to jam memory into my brain.".................
