It is not the fault of Eritreans that they were subjugated by the Italians. And now that Asmarinos have lived surrounded by the architecture left by Italy it has become ingrained in their culture, as is the the culinary remains of Italy. You don't have to go far from Asmara to see the tukals and such of native design. I find the combination of influences to be rather charming.

This is a wonderful Video & as an American I can see why the eritreans would want independence in order to preserve their own culture. I'm fascinated by the Railway system as well as the architecture that's been preserved & the cleanliness of the society. In other clips I saw mountains of used war machines rusting away. Perhaps the Eritreans could do what the Japanese did after WW2, they melted down as much of the war remnants as possible & refabricated peacetime appliances like refrigerators.
