| Wow, it's amazing that in this time of such great knowledge, some continue to walk in ignorance behind the guise of religion or tradition.Your scripture tells you to make no image to bow down to,or worship,or make no representation of God.And if color does not matter, why is that image you bow to, so white. No persons native to Israel in that time of history was white. It's time for the Orthodox church stop practicing white supremacy and misinformation,in God's name. Somebody has to say it. |

| The Bible teaches that whenever the creation wants to correct the Creator, its a sign of ignorance not knowledge. The only way one can conclude that this is the time of knowledge is if one is looking at this from the worldly point of view. From the spiritual point of view, its time of destruction. knowledge acquired about the world and small "facts" are irrelevant to spirituality. may i kindly remind you that Jesus did not choose scholarly geniuses who understood the bible to be his disciples. |

| As far as I can tell, regarding the "graven image", the Catholic Church employs the use of statuary for the most part while the Orthodox Churches incline toward iconography. And in this case, extremely vibrant paintings. Some of these paintings are obviously influenced by European works but the artists were not painting them for use in Catholic worship/mass. Plus, the art that influenced this art is great. Great art influences great art. Just ask the painters. This is merely my observation. |

| I am orthodaox but I sotp laying under mary or and church pictur. becaus the orthodaox bibel forbid in worsipin in any kind of image. So all ethiopian as butifull as our belive is, we have to corect the worsiping on the image. |

| You are right we only have to worship God. The bible in Revelation 22 verse 8 8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw all these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me. 9 But he said, No, dont worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets, as well as all who obey what is written in this book. Worship only God! |

| Hi, I love orthodox, perhaps, I will die being orthodox. However, no one had told me when I was back home about what the image is about, rally! I have stop worshiping on the images after I came to U.S. If you remember you go to any church in Ethiopia you will see People touching the image and rube their face. |

| I dont know way but I have been doing that until my father read the bible and tall me it was wrong. Attending the church in Ethiopia I have never heard any on talked abut how the worship of the Image works. I believe we as orthodox oat to enforce Ethiopian church to teach what exactly the bible say rather than telling as fear history and honestly some times wrong massage (specially during 4:00P.M. sermons). |

| My brother RATFIT, It is to share you my knowledge about the images and the orthodox church. I grew up in sunday school and tried to understand the teachings of the church in every aspect. The formal chuch teaching doesn't say to worship the images of Jesus or any saint. As you might face the preachers always say worship only God.(Math 4, exo 20) and this is the true teaching of the church. But the chuch uses icons. We use icons for two reasons: first for textual description of the bible /books. |

| The icons are venerated, not worshiped. These icons are created to honor the saints and direct worship. This is because we pray to the image not the paint or wood of the icon. The icons are holy images that require discipline, prayer, fasting, and the blessing of the Bishop to paint. As for actual worship, we sing and pray, sometimes facing the icons because it directs our worship the image of God. They are not graven images, but symbols, as an online icon would direct you to another page. |

| I am not a Christian, but learned that according to Eastern Orthodoxy (distinct from the Ethiopian Orthodox tradition), reverence shown to an icon accrues to its "prototype" i.e. the portrayed saint or holy figure who is revered, but NOT worshipped (unless it is an icon of Christ.) I do not claim to understand this doctrine in detail, or to know whether or how it applies to Ethiopian Orthodoxy. |

| Currently the church in the ethiopia is strengthing as a number of preaching in diversified topics are being given. So the church outside the country has to use resources. Every orthodox christian especially the young has to know the dogma and cannon of the church. The church has been teachning the truth and will do the same forever. Guys know yours before visiting others. If you know orthodoxy u will be biult on rock.Otherwise you are on sand. Take care |
