I don't think this is at the border itself. It's about 30 miles inland from the border. These checkpoints operate in a legal gray area.

i hate going through that check point they make me pull over everytime check my car then ask me over and over if i smoked weed in my vehicle i dont even smoke at all let alone weed and if i did i wouldnt be smoking in my car

Nothing "gray" about it. The USBP has the statutory authority to make immigration arrests ANYWHERE in the United States. The deployment of tactical checkpoints on roads leading from the border area has resulted in numerous arrests and seizures of huge quantaties of narcotics. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Wrong. Inland border patrol checkpoints exist only because of a Supreme Court ruling which can be overturned. The "USBP" needs to put their resources back on the border where they belong. The arrests and seizures attributed to the "USBP" is only a fraction of what actually makes it through. You're a victim of BP hype.

Stats or no stats, inland border patrol checkpoints are only marginally effective at keeping out illegal immigrants and narcotics. I own a copy of the CPB Inspector's Field Manual which was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. After reading the sections concerning permanent checkpoints and roving patrols, I can tell you through personal experience that the USBP, with it's lax hiring practices and high attrition rates, does not provide it's agents with adequate training in the area of 4th amendment rights. I was done with this exchange BUT I got up this morning, got the paper and what's on the front page? Two more CBP agents busted for accepting bribes for allowing loads of cocaine into the country.
