| There was never any. But all religous denominations are required to register and inform the Govt of where their "Funding" eminates from. Catholics, Orthodox, Muslims and Pente's did so and they have no problems practising. WHY did the Evangelicals refuse?? If you go by what they tell you then you may also come to the conclusion that we persecute muslims too since we dont accept extremes like "Wahabbism" either. |

| lionofnakfa . Thanks for your comments. I think that a good conclusion, from what you say, is that only certain religious groups are accepted in Eritrea. Evangelical Christians who 'refused' to inform the government about their funding are not accepted. |

| Persecution comes in several forms, not just by the government. Just look @ the US. Can they excommunicate a openly gay pastor? Can they disallow a gay to be a pastor? If they allow, they compromised God's commands. As for the Chinese, we may still be persecuted for @ least 100 years either as an anti-communist or a traitor to the Chinese. |

| In the US, the government can't disallow anyone from practacing thier religion. The Churchs' are controlled by private individuals in the church hierarchy. For the Gov to get involded in private religious affairs in not legal. |
