Unfortunately, the thylacine is most likely extinct. However, of all the animals the crypto people search for, it's the most likely to be alive. I mean the Ivory-billed woodpecker has been rediscovered. But it just seems that the thylacine was unable to compete with the dingo on the mainland (because the dingo was more intelligent and had a relationship with humans to augment its diet) and unable to survive habitat destruction, disease, and persecution on Tasmania.

The dingo was able to outcompete the Thylacine because it was far more intelligent and it had a relationship with the native people of Australia, which helped augment its success. In 1,000 years, it simply swamped the other large predators of australia. The same thing happened when big cats and wild dogs entered South America from North America, except people weren't part of the equation.

This is an insult to a great creature that was driven to extinction by humans and dingos (which were brought to australia by traders). I'd love to see one in person, but this is total bullshit.

Natalie. I'll go looking for the Tassie Tiger with you any day!! Lucky Daniel is all I can say!!! P.S Unfortunately, I think it's extinct. Not a big enough gene pool for it to survive. And no road kills of the tiger??? I saw heaps of road kill when I went to Tassie in 2003. Surely if it survived to this day, a carcass would show up somewhere on the side of the road???? Try Victoria (loch sport) if you want to see a live one.
