| I think you never been to Eritrea when Derg was in power. You see, let alone to sing and dance like this we weren't allowed to use our God given language Tigringa. Instead Amhara culture and language was promoted. That is why yikealo is talking about. He is not saying that this is not Habesha culture. |

By the way I am an Ethiopian national and was asked to give a presentation on Habesha culture in a place where I am studying. I used this beautiful Habesh song in combination with many others from Ethiopia to show our beautiuful culture. | Look I don't have another nick. But are you denying that Eritreans where not allowed to talk in Tigringa and exercise their culture? I was there myself. I didn't learn Tigringa in Eritrea when I was a kid. Instead Amharic was promoted. In class we where discouraged to talk in Tigringa. All the textbooks where written in Amharic...a language that was not our mother tong. If you don't want to admit it, its ok...but it is an open secrete. |
