This all reminds me of another cheap supercar. Carol Shelby wanted a Corvette beater so he mated a engine from a Ford farm pickup to a Brittish car body from AC. Shelby's Cobra went on to beat the snot out of Ferrari's at Le Mans for a number of years in the mid 60's. Early Cobras are noted for their shoddy fit and finish, but for little money you got a car that would finish Le Mans reliably. If my woman had the temerity to bitch about fit and finish, I'd tell her I she could just drive a Pinto.

Obsessed? Not in the least. I just love a good underdog enough to look past it's few flaws. You are the one who is closed minded to the point of obsession. Your remark about Chevy and hybrids underscores this. You refuse to see change. Right now Chevy offers more green vehicles than Toyota. Right now Chevy is getting better reports for build quality and longevity than most of the Japanese manufacturers. I dislike Chevy's CEO too but I can see the change in the offered product. Why can't you?

This is exactly what I intended to clarify for people out there who following up with my comments, this is exactly how you and many others here on YouTube GM sites see the world, this is exactly your logic, I buy myself $40 Timex and tell myself since its working its as good as Rolex or buy myself corvette and believe since its got 400 to 600 hours power its as good as Porsche or mazarati. You sound a little upset. It's not denial, Chevy products have gotten better while you were sleeping. Heres an astonomical analogy to help you feel better. Super massive stars often burn their brightest just before they burn out and go nova. Or to quote Bloomberg:12/12/08 "Stocks tumbled around the world and the dollar slumped after the Senate rejected a bailout for American automakers, threatening to deepen the global recession. Treasuries rallied and yields fell to record lows."

You know Yamamoto, prior to the 12/07 attacks on Pearl Harbor, described the US industrial capasity as a, "sleeping dragon." He was right. Even though the Sherman tank was hella awful, GM could produce so many that that little Tommy Cooker over whelmed Panzer Tigers. Now if two of the big three fold the emergency capsity to produce war material will not be there when we need it. But the best part is that with out jobs those laid off from the plants will be a social burden on the few with jobs.

Personally I hope GM survives this. Because if Ford is the only traditional American car manufacturer, without competition, American cars will get truly bad. That is what makes that cheap little ZR1 great, expensive super cars were challenged to make an even better car, but if GM folds and the ZR1 goes the way of the winter wolf, the reduction in competition will encourage more 1980 Ferrari Mondial 8s and the 1984 Maserati Biturbos.
