| there is no real perfect # on this but: at the rate of tropical rainforest lost in a day: somewhere around 140 species are lost in one day...And also here is a real fact from my Ecology and ntrl resources class: in one acre of rainforest, there can be over 200 tree species... so yeah, species extinction rates are a real problem due to deforestation...particuarly in the amazon, b/c at the current deforestation rates there, it probably will be almost completely gone within the next 25-50 years... |
