It was filmed using a Canon XL1S, which has a reasonably good lens on it; that's how we got the focus pull looking into the kitchen. It also has good control over shutter speed and aperture which helped with creating a short depth of focus in some of the shots.

It was uploaded from an mp4 file. We actually produced this video for a DVD, which was then ripped using Handbrake to mp4 (though could have done it straight to mp4 from FinalCut). The ripped file was 480x368 pixels, about 10MB.

For most of the shots, the guy was supported by rigging which was painted out in post production using the software 'Motion'.

It was done using iStopMotion Home Edition. The bits where the character is moving through the air, apparently unsupported, was done by supporting him with rigging (wires, metal dowel and stands). The footage was then imported into the software 'Motion', made by Apple, and the rigging was painted out frame by frame. It actually look longer to paint out the rigging than it did to do the animating.

Great vid, do you know if adobe after effects would work insted of motion? I got it as part of a package with photoshop and have never really got to grips with it =( Also, what camera did you use for that? i tried using a nikon (D)SLR, with great picture quality, but without live feed. Do you get cameras with good pictures and live feed that work with istopmotion? Thanks =)
