Somaliland Expatriates Return Home to Help Native Land Develop, Somaliland lies on the Gulf of Aden, a self-declared independent republic since breaking with Somalia 17 years ago. It has its own government, army, police and other institutions, but it is still not recognized by the international community. Despite this, the capital Hargeisa and other places are expanding rapidly. This is largely due to Somalilanders returning from the United States and other countries and bringing their skills and money with them. Cathy Majtenyi has more.

These are Somalians, I don't know why this spokesperson keeps talking about "Somalilanders". Look at world maps and search for Somaliland, you won't find it. All these people want is to find a way to divide/differentiate themselves from the rest of Somali people in Somalia and gain access to whatever that region bestows (as they mentioned in the video) and I ask anyone, what country would support that kind of attitude? That would be a dangerous precedent.

Maanshallah, proud to be a somalilander. Horta no one said we are not somalis. we are somalis by ethnicity but we are somaliland by nationality. Stop the jelousy. wabdinur, wake up we are divided. We Somalilanders are no longer consider Somalians since our independence in 1991. You can't force us to be something we are not. So shame on you for denying our country. Long live Somaliland. oh yeah, check out the latest world map you will see Somaliland. It will never happen. If you consider me as a jealous person, it's much less worse than what I consider separatists like you as GREEDY/selfish. If you really want some place to call home then why don't you guys go and live in the red sea, then I'll support the Somalilander's cause.

lolz, there is Somali saying "Allow ha cadaabin nin aan wax ogeyn" My point being is If u don't know what's going on (so called S.land)north-western of Somalia, then better not comment it. These dudes u r praising are sent and funded by the west to expand the Christianity which existed since the Siyad M. A. Hassan' time (18th century) in that region. if you recognize a tribal enclave, then you must equally extend recognition to thousands of other small countries within the african continent. who is going to spoon fed a whole generation of new countries????????????????????????? the world is already dealing with border disputes created by the british before they were chased out of africa, and imagine opening up a tomb of other new nations all loosely held together at the edge of collapse.
